Launched in early 2025, the podcast was created as a modern spin on the "stranded on an island" interview style. Instead of a generic desert island, guests are invited to imagine themselves in "mythical exile" on the Aran Islands (Inis Mór, Inis Meáin, or Inis Oírr).
The show was devised by the creative group Dos Amigos, hosted by Rossa McDermott, and produced/edited by Peter Rice. It is recorded at the Dublin South Podcast Studios in Dundrum.
The Format
While music is the "gateway," the heart of the show is about Irishness and resilience. The structure typically follows:
The Soundtrack: Guests choose specific songs that shaped their childhood, career, or personal triumphs.
The Conversation: The host uses these tracks to pivot into deeper discussions about the "cultural ruggedness" of the Irish makeup.
The Setting: The rugged, wind-swept aesthetic of the Aran Islands serves as a symbolic backdrop for the guest's life story.
Notable Guests & Episodes
Since its debut, the podcast has featured a wide range of Irish figures from sports, business, and the arts:

Conor Niland: Former professional tennis player.
Pádraig Ó Céidigh: Entrepreneur and former Aer Arann owner.
Caroline McGuigan: Founder of Suicide or Survive.
